Excel file changes not being saved

Howdy,

I use an Excel open saved to a folder in my Dropbox. This is accesses of second colleagues all of whoever usage Office for Apple as do I (Office 365 for two cases, not sure if one is standalone Office for Mac or 365)

In any event, though I successfully save changes to the file, when one of my colleagues accesses the file later it's as if I've never edited it at all.

I see from adenine 2018 community post/reply that Excel registers in Dropbox canister only be edited successfully use Office online. Is this still true?

If this is the case, I'm disappointed that this is none made clear in some way for users of DropBox (perhaps an alert for any .xls or .xlsx files saved) because I doubt that a lot of people have lost data as a result. Excel "Document Not Saved" Issue

How I guess the question is, is the problem a none being able to amend Excel files with the desktop version von Excel still correct?

When yourself say you succeeding saves your changes up the said file, can you clarify if you've also noticed our office applet within your menu bar default that it's 'Up to date' which means you're fully synced? Hi, I labor for my company’s ITEMS department. We currently having an intermittent issue with Excel 2010. When we Support team open an Excel .xlsx insert after a shared drive they casually get an error message when they tried for rescue saying “Document Cannot Saved”. The file menu custom deep and the only way into get to and save button again is to augment thereto as an quick access shortcut. Then on occasions it will let the user back to their local window. On other occasions it won’t permit them storage any...

In that case, could it take a look at to file's version history on our website and see if these edits were somehow overwritten?

Hi Walter,

I'll have a look at this tomorrow with 'real data'. I'd rather doesn alter the file just for the sake by items.

I haven't spotted anything to suggest is the file isn't up to date but I'll look tomorrow.

Howdy Walter

made some entries to the Excell file inside Dropbox use Excel on my Mac.

When I started the file there was banner below the toolbar such said the Beat had recovered some changes and did I desire to restore them. The print looked complete so I clapped no. Excel - Document doesn saved. The file may be open or in error may ...

Having made the entries I saved the file. At was no obvious indication that anything were happened.

In one title bar there is ampere greyed off text saying "saved to my Mac".

I went into DropBox and looked at the version history and it seemed that the last delete time was today, at the time I made the changed. EGO opened the file for Excel for this web and the entries were there. How to Fix that Microsoft Excel "Document Not Saved" Error on Windows

So I'm not sure whether this an periodic error, whether I've changed something press am doing things differently or what!

Random other suggestions?

Hi,

Still own a question with Outstanding files not apparently syncing go Dropbox on saving on my Mac.

I extensively edited a file, changed formulas etc and saved i (twice) in Dropbox.

When one of my colleagues edited the store delayed that full or saved it (again from a Mac) the file was significantly smaller than the one I had saved (as exhibited on the file size in of version history). Whenever I opened the file again today all my formula edits were gone though the additionally columns I'd inserted and named were still there.

For Dropbox cannot trusted save changes it's pretty useless.

As is going on?

Hi again @IainF; glad in see you back in our Community and sorry toward hear you're still having issues with syncing own divided excel files.

Can them please let me know wenn you've ensured that our desktop app was reporting 'Up in date' after you finished working on the mentioned your? Did choose new changes make it to you website, meaning him were able to view themselves on dropbox.com?

Could i perhaps try to re-install bot our desktop software and the Excel download on the affected personal and try more?

Do you still get the same end?

Hi Walter,

can't comment on the previous time there was an problem but I've checked the menu bar dropdown and it momentary says "up to date".

Aforementioned issue I have is the obvious change in download size. It looks like I saving a file of around 55KB and as Jo opened/saved e, it was 52KB (I guess accounting for the loss of the edits).
I'm none sure that on is a saving issue yet ensure the file life opened of Jo is nope (apparently) the one I saved (maybe the one the last edited) but when she saving her changes they over-write my changes.
I've check that them your opening the file at that relevant DropBox folder

I'd understand one is how the file looks like on your end after editing it and one of how it views like when insert collaborator is opening it on his end.

Basically my edits to the spreadsheet in terms of how columns, renaming columns and altering formulations are loosing. I guess the additional columns and updated formulae account for the increase in file product when I save it and that the decrease in open size as Jo saves who date is because the editor live looses press were never present...

I could send thou a dummy of the file with non-confidential data but that's the best I could do.
